What's the deal? What's the difference?
The SMS industry is heavily regulated, and multiple players are involved in sending and receiving an SMS for a business. There are many laws regulating the usage of SMS. Carriers (In the US - AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others) also have rules and regulations everyone must follow. There are also gateways in the mix that connect to all carriers worldwide. A lot is going on, and we'll try to break it down into plain English without having to get into the jargon of it all.
Local numbers are great because your customers will receive a text from a number from where they live. Since the industry tries to protect the consumer, there are some hoops to jump through to get a local number.
Cherub SMS will facilitate the registration of a 10DLC in the dashboard. The carriers charge a fee to apply for Brand and Campaign vetting. We pass this fee along to the customer, which is currently $44. Most companies will only use a standard mixed-case campaign and not need to register for multiple campaigns. Each campaign carries a $10/month fee as well. That is reflected in the prices of our packages. These carrier-enforced fees are not marked up; we do not make any money on these fees.
Branding and campaign vetting are usually quick, around 1-5 business days, and you can monitor the status in your dashboard.
Everyone knows toll-free numbers by now. They are great to show you are serious, but they are more impersonal for the local mom-and-pop shop. The great thing about toll-free numbers is that there are no additional fees to register or use. The drawback is that registration can take up to 5 weeks. Like 10DLCs you can monitor the status in your dashboard.
There is no clear winner where one is better than the other. Both will deliver and receive your campaigns effectively. The question is whether you want the local number with the additional fee or the free number that takes longer to set up and isn't as friendly looking.

Yes! You can add as many numbers as you want. Each number will have a very small fee to register it with the gateway. If you are using a local number there may be another campaign fee.
Any unused messages from your current month will be rolled over to the next month. This is great if you have a slow month and want to use those messages later.
Not initially. You can sign up for a free account and check out the system. You will need to add a credit card and purchase a number and package to send messages.
We have tried to set a fair price for everyone, regardless of your volume. While you may be able to find a cheaper rate elsewhere (probably not... read their fine print for hidden fees), we are confident that our service will surpass the competition as we do not restrict features based on your package.
There are no refunds as most of the cost is a passthru. If you are unhappy with the service, please contact us and we will do our best to make it right.
Yes, you can cancel at any time for an immediate account closure. You will not be charged again, and you will not be refunded for the current month.
